Abstract

ABSTRACT This study aims to analyze the planning, implementation and implementation of follow-up plans for academic supervision at SMP 8 Tapung, Kampar Regency. Data collection techniques were in the form of observation, interviews, and documentation. The informants of this study were the principal, the vice principal of the school and the teacher. Data analysis in the form of reduction, display, conclusion, and verification of data. The results showed 1) checking the completeness of teaching materials, the principal and the teacher realized how important academic supervision was. Academic supervision is an effort to improve teacher professionalism. The implementation of academic supervision needs to be carried out systematically by the principal with the aim of providing guidance to teachers so that they can carry out their duties effectively and efficiently. In its implementation, the principal checks the completeness of teaching materials such as lesson plans, semester programs, annual programs for the suitability of learning media used in the classroom. Before conducting supervision, the principal also holds initial discussions in order to establish good communication with the teacher. 2} The implementation of academic supervision at the first SMP Negeri 8 Tapung begins with socialization activities to teachers and conducts pre-observation meetings. Supervision activities are carried out by providing guidance and direction on the preparation of learning tools, implementing learning and evaluating learning through meetings, discussions, individual meetings and classroom observations. In its implementation, several teachers were found who were less creative in making learning media. This is recognized by the teacher because of his limited ability in designing instructional media. 3} Implementing coaching techniques carried out by the supervisors of SMP Negeri 8 Tapung through meetings between teachers and school principals as a form of feedback meeting which discusses the evaluation of the academic supervision that has been carried out. Furthermore, the results of the follow-up by providing steps from the problems faced by the teacher in managing learning in the classroom with the aim that the principal and teacher can improve their performance.
