Abstract

This study aims to investigate how the influence of peer social support on students’ learning motivation. The background of the study is the low learning motivation of students at SMPS IT AL-HUSNA in Siak Hulu District, Kampar Regency that requires support to increase their learning motivation. In fact, there are some students who lack social interaction with peers so they tend to feel lonely. This creates a sense of hostility and reduces learning motivation. Therefore, this study aims to investigate the influence of peer social support on students’ learning motivation in grade IX at SMPS IT AL-HUSNA in Siak Hulu District, Kampar Regency. This is a quantitative study with a correlational approach. The subject of the study is the the students in grade IX and the object of the study is the students’ learning motivation in grade IX at SMPS IT AL-HUSNA in Siak Hulu District, Kampar Regency. The results of the study show that there is a significant influence of peer social support on students’ learning motivation by 78%. The level of influence of peer social support on students’ learning motivation is 88.3% which is included in the very strong category. If the peer social support increases, so it will also increase the students’ learning motivation in grade IX at SMPS IT AL-HUSNA in Siak Hulu District, Kampar Regency.
