Abstract

The construction industry has always had a potential hazard/risk during its implementation. To reduce and prevent risks that occur, good risk management is needed. Risk management is a way to accommodate risks that may occur during the construction period. The existence of this risk management will be seen as a structured and systematic process in identifying, measuring, mapping, developing alternative risk management as well as monitoring and controlling risk management. The risk of occupational safety and health in construction is a matter of concern because it has a dominant impact when the risk occurs. The purpose of this study is to identify risks, determine dominant risks, and recommend appropriate risk controls. The method used to achieve the predetermined goals is the FMEA (Failure Mode Effects Analysis) approach. The FMEA method is a systematic technique for identifying and preventing risks before they occur. Respondents who contributed to this study were 28 respondents. The data obtained from the respondents evaluated the FMEA failure process using three indicators, namely Severity (S), Occurrence (O) and Detection (D). To determine the dominant risk value, the three indicators are multiplied and produce an RPN (Risk Priority Number). The results showed that there were 6 risk variables identified with a total of 32 risk indicators. The dominant risk obtained from the research results are 12 risk indicators with the 6 most significant concern risk indicators, namely: (i) lack of material waste disposal sites, (ii) labor negligence, (iii) heavy equipment accidents, (iv) equipment transportation difficulties. heavy to the project site, (v) a less clean project environment, (vi) a noisy project environment. Recommendations for the dominant risks that can be given include: (i) routinely cleaning material waste, (ii) conducting briefings before starting work so that workers can be reminded to be more careful, (iii) conducting periodic checks on heavy equipment that to be used, (iv) heavy equipment operations must be carried out by experienced heavy equipment operators, (v) periodic cleaning of the work area, (vi) adding operators to alternate so as to reduce the time the workers use the heavy equipment.
