Abstract

As a result of the high rate of community growth in urban areas every year, which has a significant impact during the COVID-19 pandemic, such as the demand for food needs in urban areas that cannot be managed alone. One solution to this problem is to increase urban food productivity by means of urban farming. The implementation of urban farming activities is a form of community participation to carry out urban farming activities in Maharatu Village, which has been carrying out urban farming activities before the COVID-19 pandemic. The purpose of this study was to determine community participation in urban farming activities during the COVID-19 pandemic in Maharatu Village. The research approach in this study uses a deductive approach using qualitative and quantitative descriptive methods and scoring and percentage analysis methods to determine the characteristics of urban farming and the level of community participation in urban farming activities and qualitative descriptive analysis to determine community motivation. Based on the results of the study, it shows that the characteristics of urban farming activities in Maharatu Village are the results of urban farming activities, urban farming objectives, land ownership status, scale of marketing service coverage of urban farming activities, urban farming locations, urban farming techniques, results of urban farming activities in Maharatu Village. Based on the results of the analysis of the level of community participation in urban farming activities during the covid-19 pandemic, four forms of community participation levels were obtained in the following forms: (1) Labor (mutual cooperation) (2) Work tools (3) Costs (4) thought and time . For the motivation of the community to carry out urban farming activities during the covid-19 pandemic, it was obtained namely: Economics, Social, Psychology.
