Abstract
This study is motivated by the lack of public response to Islamic banks. Whereas, there are still many people who think that there is no difference in the system between Islamic banks and conventional banks. The aim of this study is to investigate the public perception on the conversion of conventional banks into Islamic banks. The type of this study is a field research presented ina quantitative method with a sample of 372 respondents.The data analysis technique of the study is descriptive statistics. From the results of the study, it can be concluded that the public perception on the conversion of Riau Kepri Bank into an Islamic bank is in the range of 41%-60%, it means that the public perception on the conversion of Riau Kepri Bank into an Islamic bank in the Lingga district is "fairly good".
