Abstract

Service quality is a very important factor for KUD to increase member participation, therefore members need to pay attention to service quality in order to remain good. The aims of the study were to analyze: 1) Characteristics, members, management, employees and profiles of KUD Swamitra Mekar Sari, 2) Quality of service and level of member participation in KUD Swamitra Mekar Sari, 3) The relationship between service quality and member participation provided by KUD Swamitra Mekar Sari. This research was conducted at KUD Swamitra in Bukit Kemuning Village, Tapung District, Kampar Regency, Riau Province. The sample selection was carried out using a multistage sampling technique. Data was collected by conducting direct interviews using primary and secondary data questionnaires. The data analysis technique used in this research is correlation analysis. The results showed that: 1) Characteristics, members, management, employees aged between 28-72 years with an average age of 28-42 years by 30%. The level of education ranging from elementary to tertiary education is dominated by elementary education as much as 40%. Male gender 73.33%. And the average work experience of members, administrators and employees is around 10 years. 2) The quality of service and the level of participation of members consisting of services in Tangible, Reliability, Responsiveness, Assurance, Empathy scored in a good category, meaning that overall services at the Swamitra Mekar Sari Cooperative are good and can be seen from the quality aspects services, and results from level participation in decision-making, level participation in activities/services, level participation in program evaluation, level participation in rights and obligations and level participation in the field of cooperative capital also obtained scores with good categories. This means that the overall level of participation of members of the Swamitra Mekar Sari Cooperative is good and successful. As well as management and employees are considered to have been responsible for carrying out the duties of the cooperative. 3) The results of the analysis show that there is a strong and significant relationship at the 1 percent test level (very significant). This means that the service in cooperative organizations has a good relationship with the level of member participation and the better the service in the cooperative the better the participation.
