Abstract

The fuel cell is an alternative energy generator to replace conventional energy generators that use fuel oil with the basic principle of electrochemistry by converting chemical energy into electricity. With the recent fuel oil crisis, an alternative energy for the future that is cheap and environmentally friendly is urgently needed. To overcome this problem, polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cell composites can be one solution. The polymer's lightweight and corrosion-resistant properties make it particularly suitable for this application. In this study, the aim of this research is to obtain a good electrical conductivity value and to obtain the optimum mixture composition using a local binder, namely resin. Composite pellets with a composition of 60%: 40%, 70%: 30% and 80%: 20% (volume fraction) are obtained through hot pressing compression at a pressure of five (5) tons with a temperature of 150 ° C. This research also studied the effect of composition on characterization which includes testing of compressive strength and observing macro structures. From the results of this study, it was found that the high electrical conductivity value in specimen three (3) with a composition ratio of 80:20 with a value of 44.88 S⁄cm with a compressive strength of 1317.17 Pa
