Abstract

THE EFFECT OF PROMOTION ON THE DECISION MAKING OF STUDENTS OF HIGH SCHOOL, ROKAN IV DISTRICT KOTO, ROKAN HULU REGENCY IN CONTINUING STUDY AT RIAU ISLAMIC UNIVERSITY ELVI NURBADRI NPM: 176810302 ABSTRACT Education can be used as a long-term investment for a student by making himself a qualified Human Resources (HR) and able to compete in the era of globalization. To achieve this, students must take quality education as well. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of special promotions (distribution of brochures, advertisements in newspapers, advertisements on social media, direct promotions) on students' decision making in choosing private universities. The type of research used in this study is the correlational method. In this study, the population used in high school was specifically for the social studies class for high school because this research focused on the accounting education department of UIR. The sampling technique using non-probability sampling is the method used in this study to determine the sample. So in this study, the samples to be taken were all students of class XII IPS at SMAN 1 and XII IPS at SMAN 2 in District Rokan IV Koto, Rokan Hulu Regency, totaling 96 students. The results of this study, seen from the results of simple linear regression analysis, it can be seen that the results of the research on the simple linear regression test table show a significant value (sig) of less than 0.05, which is 0.000. That is, there is an effect of promotion on student decision making in the District of Rokan IV Koto, Rokan Hulu Regency in choosing a college at the Islamic University of Riau. In addition, it can also be seen from the t-count of the Promotional variable on Decision Making (5.691) > t-table (1.669) it can be interpreted that there is a positive and significant influence on the promotion variable on decision-making. The percentage of the influence of promotion on student decision making in choosing a college at the Islamic University of Riau is 64.8% which can be seen based on the R Square table which is 0.648.
