Abstract

ABSTRACT MASDIYANTO (154210237), 2020. Factors Affecting Household Expenditures for Oil Palm Farmers in Kunto Darussalam District, Rokan Hulu Regency. Under the guidance of Dr. Mrs. Elinur, SP., M.Si as Advisor. Household expenses are all expenses related to meeting household needs. Broadly speaking, household expenditure can be grouped into two categories, namely food and non-food expenditure. This research aims to: 1) Analyze the characteristics of oil palm farmers in Kunto Darussalam District, 2) Analyze household income of oil palm farmers in Kunto Darussalam District, 3) Analyze household expenditure of oil palm farmers in Kunto Darussalam District, 4) Analyze factors influencing household expenditure of oil palm farmers in Kunto Darussalam District. The method in this research is a survey method in Kunto Darussalam District. This research was conducted from November 2019 to April 2020. Samples were taken by simple random sampling of 36 oil palm farmers. The analysis method used in this research is descriptive analysis and multiple linear regression. The results of the research on oil palm farmer household characteristics were the average age of the respondents 50 years. The education level of oil palm farmers is 10 years. The number of farmer family members is 4 people. 19 years of farming experience. Oil palm farmer household income consists of oil palm farming income of Rp. 92,986,240 and non-farm Rp. 5,097,222. The biggest income is farm income. Household expenditure consists of food consumption expenditure of Rp. 18,394,389 and non-food Rp. 15,766,167. The largest expenditure is from food consumption expenditure. The results of the estimation of the oil palm farmer household expenditure model show that household income has a significant positive effect on household expenditure, the number of family members and the education of the head of the family has a significant negative effect on household expenditure. Oil palm farmer household expenditure responses to income, number of family members, education of the head of the family, and savings.
