Abstract

Waste from oil production is one of them in the form of oil-contaminated water or more commonly called production water (Produced water). This production water must not be discharged directly into the environment or injected back into the reservoir. Before being discharged or reinjected into the reservoir, the production water must be separated from chemicals that are harmful to the environment. At present, one way to separate production water from oil content and other chemicals is filtering or filtration which is called the Oil removal filter in the oil industry. In general, the oil industry uses walnut shell media for filtration. This research will use activated carbon from Apus bamboo (Gigantochloa Apus) and CO2 gas activator as a substitute for walnut shell because both have high absorption and the cost of producing activated carbon from Apus bamboo is more economical compared to walnut shell to reduce the content of oil content and total dissolved oil (TDS) from the water production field #SP Ukui PT. Pertamina EP Lyrics. The use of activated carbon from Apus bamboo aims to determine the efficiency of Apus bamboo activated carbon filter to oil content, turbidity, pH and TDS contained in production water. The filtration process is carried out by using a vertical tube in which to use a bulkhead for the placement of the filter media which will then flow with oil-contaminated water. Based on the results of research that has been done, the content of oil content that is still contained in production water after the filtration process is equal to 2.56 ppm with an efficiency of 68.00% in walnut shell media and 1.03 ppm with 87.125% efficiency in Apus bamboo activated carbon media, TDS value of 796 ppm on walnut shell media and 685 on Apus bamboo activated carbon media, pH 7.6 for filter results using walnut shell and 7.1 for activated carbon, as well as the turbidity level of 203 NTU on walnut shell media and 194 NTU on Apus bamboo activated carbon media .
