Abstract

ABSTRACT This research has been carried out in the experimental garden of Riau Islamic University, Jalan Kaharudin Nasution KM 11 No. 113, Airingin village, Bukit Raya district, Pekanbaru. The study was carried out for 5 months starting from November to March 2020. The aim of the study was to determine the interaction effect and the main effect of ketapang leaf base and shoot pruning time on the growth and production of cayenne pepper (Capsicum frutescens L.). The design used in this study was a completely randomized design (CRD) which consisted of two factors. The first factor is the ketapang leaf bokashi consisting of 4 levels, namely 0, 500, 1000, 1500 g / plot and the second factor is the time for pruning the shoots consisting of 4 levels, namely 0, 14, 21, 28 days afterwards, so there are 16 combinations with 3 repetitions. there are 48 trial units. Each experimental unit consisted of 4 plants and 2 of them were used as samples so that the total number was 192 plants. Observation parameters of flowering age, harvest age, number of branches, width of the canopy, number of fruits per plant, fruit weight per plant, and number of residual fruits. Data were analyzed statistically and continued BNJ test. Based on the results of the study concluded that the interaction between ketapang leaf bokashi and shoot pruning was significant on the number of fruits per plant and fruit weight per plant. The best treatment was ketapang leaf base dosage 1500 g / plot and shoot pruning time 28 days afterwards. The main effect of ketapang leaf bokashi was significant on all observed parameters. The best treatment was ketapang leaf bokashi at a dose of 1500 g / plot. The main effect of shoot pruning time was on the parameters of flowering age, harvesting age and number of fruit remaining in the best treatment, namely without cutting the shoots, on the parameters of the number of branches, and the width of the canopy of the best treatment, namely the time of pruning the shoots 28 days afterwards.
