Abstract

THE INFLUENCE OF HDPE (HIGH DENSITY POLYETHYLENE) PLASTIC PELLETS UTILIZATION AS A SUBSTITUTION FOR FINE AGGREGATE IN CONCRETE MIX Tessa Putri Aulia NPM.143110713 Abstract: Development in the field of construction progressed rapidly. Concrete is one of the basic material structure in the construction of buildings. In general, concrete is composed of cement, fine aggregate, coarse aggregate and water. The utilization of pellets HDPE plastic as the material of the concrete mix is expected to be a solution to reduce the amount of plastic waste. This research will emphasize the extent to which the influence of the utilization of pellets HDPE plastic as a substitute for fine aggregate in the concrete mix. This research using the method of the Department of Environment (DoE) in SNI 03-2834-2000 for mix design of concrete. Planning the quality of the concrete fc’ 32 MPa and the use of HDPE plastic by 0%, 5%, 10%, 15%, and 20% of the weight of the sand. This study was conducted to determine the value of the slump and compressive strength of concrete at 28 days. Slump value in percentage 0%, 5%, 10%, 15% and 20% using seeds HDPE plastic as a replacement for fine aggregate is 153,33 mm, 119,33 mm, 92,67 mm, 85,67 mm and 79 mm. Slump value that is produced are in accordance with the slump value plan that is 60 mm – 180 mm. The value of concrete compressive strength on the percentage of 0%, 5%, 10%, 15% and 20% using seeds HDPE plastic as a replacement of fine aggregate by 32,083 MPa, 23,308 MPa, 22,458 MPa, 19,058 MPa, 16,608 MPa. The value of compressive strength on the percentage of 20% decreased the maximum amount 48,23%. Then the concrete of this type can be applied to a type of lightweight concrete with the use of lightweight structures.
