Abstract
Poverty is a serious problem in the development process. The government has tried to introduce various programs that involve a number of poverty experts, in fact they have not been able to eradicate poverty as a whole. Tambang is one of the sub-districts in Kampar District that has the highest poverty rate, therefore a poverty reduction strategy is needed to reduce poverty in the future. The purpose of this study is to determine the characteristics of poverty, poverty factors, and to formulate poverty reduction strategies. The method used to determine the characteristics of poverty is a descriptive method. The method used to determine poverty factors is multiple linear regression. Meanwhile, the method of formulating poverty reduction strategies is logical framework analysis (LFA). Based on the results of the study shows that the five variables affect poverty with the greatest level of calculation, namely, employment status with a value of t arithmetic 3.452, capital limitations with a value of t arithmetic 3.175, education level with a value of arithmetic 3.030, income with a value of arithmetic 1.455, and the amount dependents of the family with a t value of -2.135. The results of the LFA analysis explain that the poverty program that has been carried out is still not maximized in reducing poverty in the Tambang District, so the strategies needed in poverty reduction in the Tambang District are improving the quality and participation of education, increasing expertise and changing people's perceptions at work, increasing participation the community in the family planning (KB) program, strengthening the policy towards the company and supervising the community who intervene in the company.
