Abstract

This study aims to determine the Aesthetic Values ​​of Zapin Dance at Berinai Suri Night in Belitung Bay, Merbau District, Meranti Islands Regency, Riau Province. Zapin Dance an Night of Berinai Suri is an entertainment dance at night of Berinai Suri of the Malay community which developed and was introduced in Belitung Bay. The Zapin Dance on the Night of Berinai Suri is pulled at the time of the night ceremony, which is held at the house of the woman defender. The Zapin dance on the night of Berinai Suri is danced by both men and women with an even number of dancers, namely four to eight people. The formulation of the problem in this study is: What is the Aesthetic Value of Zapin Dance at Berinai Suri Night in Belitung Bay, Merbau District, Meranti Islands Regency, Riau Province. This research uses descriptive analysis method, using interactive qualitative data, with 4 research subjects as resource persons. Data collection techniques used are observation, interviews and documentation. The theory used is A.A.M Djelantik (1999:9). The results of the study on the Aesthetic Value of Zapin Dance at Berinai Suri Night in Belitung Bay, Merbau District, Meranti Islands Regency, Riau Province can be seen from the aesthetics, namely the form or appearance that can be seen from the shape and structure, both from dance movements, music, makeup, fashion and floor design. The weight or content as seen from the atmosphere, ideas or ideas, and messages conveyed in the Zapin dance at Malam Berinai Suri and appearance as seen from the talents, skills, facilities or media such as the stage setting and lighting contained in the Zapin dance at Malam Berinai Suri
