Abstract
This study aims to analyze the Sirih Besar dance by Iwan Irawan Permadi at the Laksemana studio, Pekanbaru, Riau Province, which focuses on analysis ranging from motion, floor design, music, themes, costumes, make-up, dynamics, and staging. The Great Sirih Dance tells the story of Engku Raja Hamidah Puteri, a special woman who guards the nation's pride. King Hamidah had extensive knowledge, intelligence, determination, and customs of the country. That's why then Sultan Mahmud gave him the task of being the holder of the Royal Regalia (Sirih Besar).This research is a qualitative research. The subjects of this research are choreographers, composers, production leaders, make-up and costume artists, dancers and musicians. The object of this research is the Betel Besar dance. The research was conducted from January to September 2020. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. Data analysis with data reduction techniques, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. Iwan Irawan Permadi tried to raise the determination, expertise, intelligence, toughness and greatness of Engku Puteri in protecting his country. In this work, Iwan Irawan Permadi tries to create a new creation with a duration of 15 minutes. This Great Betel Dance was created in 1990 with a process of approximately 4 (four) months.
