Abstract
Marriage is an inner and outer bond between a man and a woman as husband and wife to form a happy and eternal family based on the One Godhead. Ideally a marriage lasts throughout the life of a mating partner, in other words avoiding divorce. The high divorce rate in the city of Pekanbaru should be a concern and responsibility of all parties, especially couples who do marriage. The Pekanbaru City Religious Court has received, examined, and decided that every case entered in the Pekanbaru City Religious Court specifically in the divorce case is the highest case of 1313 cases in 2017 and continues to increase every year. The problems raised in this study are (1). What were the factors causing the Divorce case in the Pekanbaru City Religious Court in 2017? (2). What is the effort of the judge as a mendiator in reconciling those who filed for divorced cases in the Religious Court of Pekanbaru City in 2017? The method used in this study is descriptive analytical, in this case the author describes and analyzes in the form of tabulations and descriptions, then the data is associated with the opinions of experts adjusted to the problem statement. Adapaun method of data analysis is qualitative analysis, after the data collected is described and concluded inductively and deductively, while for approaching using a sociological approach that is to explain the facts in the form of factors that influence the high divorce rate and how the role of judges in reconciling those who denounce divorce in the Religious Court Pekanbaru City. The results showed that the factors that influenced the high rate of divorce were 9 respondents who answered because of economic factors, 6 respondents answered because of domestic violence, and the other 5 answered because there were other reasons. The Divorce Factor was motivated by the occurrence of social change in the community, so that it can be seen that there is a shift in the mindset of the community with the present in understanding divorce. Furthermore, in the mediation of 20 respondents no one had succeeded in the case being judged by the judge. This is due to the dualism of the function of judges as well as mediators. Non-Judge mediators or mediators with more experienced certificates are needed to be able to further enhance the success of the mediation process.
