Abstract

This study aims to find out how often teachers in the field of study give questions with HOTS characteristics in the biology learning process in class XI MIA 1 at SMAN 7 Pekanbaru, Riau Province. The type of research used is descriptive qualitative research. The objects used in this research are mid-semester assessment questions and end-semester assessment questions which will be analyzed based on the revised Bloom's Taxonomy. The study was conducted from November 20, 2019 to June 2020. The sample in this study was a science teacher for class XI MIA 1 SMAN 7 Pekanbaru, Riau Province. The results showed the average HOTS questions in the Mid-Semester Assessment: (C4) 37.5% (less than half), (C5) 20% (a small part), and (C6) 0% while the Final Semester Assessment: (C4) 7.5% (a small part), (C5) 0% and (C6) 0%. Thus, it was concluded that the HOTS questions for the Mid-Semester Assessment and the Final Assessment for the Biology Semester made by the teacher of the XI Mia 1 field of study at SMAN 7 Pekanbaru were 10.8% with a small category.
