Abstract

Instagram, which makes it easy for its users to obtain and disseminate information to other users, many of whom make the Instagram platform a place to carry out verbal hate speech actions by netizens. This is because, Instagram provides facilities in the form of comments so that netizen hate speech verbal communication actions can occur, one of which is in the comment column of the @rahmawatikekeyiputricantikka23 account on August 17 2020. This research is a quantitative study with the method used, namely quantitative content analysis. The theory used in this research is general semantics theory. The population in this study amounted to 63 and the sample amounted to 50 which was calculated by the Slovin formula. Data collection techniques in this study were coding and observation. Based on the analysis, the results obtained are forms of verbal communication of netizen hate speech in the form of insults with a total of 52 comments with a percentage of 104% and verbal communication of netizen hate speech in the form of provocation with a total of 11 comments with a percentage of 22%. For verbal communication of netizen hate speech in the form of insults, the researchers categorize them again, including pointing to certain animals as many as 8 comments with a percentage of 16%, in the form of harsh words as many as 19 comments with a percentage of 38%, physically pointing at 16 comments with a percentage of 32%, appointing certain creatures as many as 5 comments with a percentage of 10% and degrading people as much as 4 comments with a percentage of 8%.
