Abstract

Based on the results of observations that have been made by the authors on class VII.1 students of SMP Negeri 3 Pekanbaru, it can be seen that their running ability is still low. This is caused by the leg muscle power of the students who are still weak and the leg length of the students who are still short, so that the running ability is not optimal. From this information, the purpose of this study was to determine the contribution of leg muscle power and leg length to the 50 meter short distance running ability of class VII.1 SMP Negeri 3 Pekanbaru. The type in this study is correlational with measurement techniques using correlation analysis with a population of 18 students. The data analysis technique used in this research is multiple correlation test (R_(yx_1 x_2 )). Based on the calculations that have been done (attached). The results of the leg muscle power test 〖(X〗_1) against a short distance running 50 meters (Y) obtained the value of r_count=-0,644. The value of r_count is then compared with r_table at n of 18 is = 0,468. It is obtained that the value of r_count≤r_table. That is, the hypothesis is rejected, because there is a very low level of relationship. Furthermore, the results of the leg length measurement test 〖(X〗_2) against the 50 meter short distance running (Y) obtained the value of r_count=-0,36. The value of r_count is then compared with r_table at n of 18 is = 0,468. It is obtained that the value of r_count≤r_table. That is, the hypothesis is rejected, because there is a very low level of relationship. Then the last one, namely the results of the leg muscle power test 〖(X〗_1) and the leg length test〖(X〗_2) against the 50 meter short distance run (Y), the R_count=0,813. The calculated R value is then compared with the R_table at n of 18, which is = 0,468. The values of R_count and R_table are obtained that R_count≥R_table or 0,813≥0,468. This means that the hypothesis is accepted, because there is a contribution of leg muscle power and leg length to the 50 meter short distance running. With R_count≥R_table, there is a statistical contribution between leg muscle power and leg length on 50 meter sprinting in class VII.1 students at SMP Negeri 3 Pekanbaru. Leg muscle power and leg length contributed to the ability to run a short distance of 50 meters by 66,1%.
