Abstract

This study is motivated by the rapid growth of conventional banks that later establish Islamic units and then join the conventional ones to become Islamic banks that certainly proves that Islamic banking is in high demand. For this reason, the researcher is interested in doing a study on how the level of public knowledge on Islamic Banking products in Dumai City. This study aims to investigate the level of public knowledge in Dumai City on the existence and products of Islamic banking. The problem formulation of the study is how the level of public knowledge on Islamic banking products in Dumai City. The type of this study is field research with a quantitative approach and the analysis used is Descriptive Statistics in which the data are grouped, described according to the type being analyzed and then presented in the form of tables, bar charts, and explanations. The population of the study is the people who live in Dumai City. To determine the sample, the Morgan formula is used and it is determined the sample as many as 383 respondents. The sampling technique used is the Proportionate Statified Random Sampling. The data collection techniques used are questionnaires and documentation. The results of this study show that 55.27% strongly agree, 37.66% agree, 4.47% disagree, 1.58% disagree and 1% strongly disagree. The descriptive analysis shows that the result of the study is 55.27%, which is in the range of 41% - 60% or "Sufficient". In conclusion, the level of public knowledge on Islamic banking products in Dumai City can be stated that the people who know about Islamic banks do not fully understand Islamic banking products and only know them in general.
