Abstract

The Sustainable Food Garden Program (P2L) is expected to be able to increase household level food security which can be seen from the increase in household income and food consumption. Pekanbaru City is not a center for food production so that the dependence on food supplies in other regions is quite high. In 2020, the poverty rate in Pekanbaru City will increase due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In addition, the population's food consumption is not diverse and nutritionally balanced. This study aims to analyze the characteristics of the participants, the profile of P2L farming, food consumption, household income and expenditure and the factors that influence household food consumption. The research method used is a survey method. The selected sample is 65 people with statified random sampling. Descriptive analysis was used to analyze participant characteristics, farm profile, food consumption, household income and expenditure. While the factors that influence household food consumption were analyzed using multiple linear regression binary logistic model. The results showed that in general the P2L participants were in the productive age group with a high school graduate education level and the number of family members was 3-4 people. P2L farming capital comes from the assistance of the Food Security Agency of the Ministry of Agriculture. The capital for the P2L development group is Rp. 15,000,000, while the capital for the P2L group for growth is Rp. 60,000,000. Participants' P2L farming experience is 1-2 years. The level of energy and protein consumption of the majority of households is in the normal category and has met the food consumption target of Pekanbaru City in 2021. Nearly 50% of households have met the food consumption target when viewed from the PPH score. P2L farming contributes 9.25% to total household income. P2L participant households are less prosperous based on the percentage of food expenditure which is greater than non-food expenditure. The dominant factors that influence P2L household food consumption towards the Pekanbaru City food consumption target in 2021 are household income (X1), participant education level (X3), number of family members (X4) and P2L dummy (D1).
