Abstract
Intensity of playing online is a measure of the level of frequency or number of units of time used in the activity of playing online games with emotional impulses. Emotional intelligence is a special ability to read the deepest feelings of those who make contact, and handle relationships while motivating oneself. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between the intensity of playing online with emotional intelligence in adolescents. The subjects in this study were students of SMAN 1 Bagansiapiapi with a total of 190 people and the sampling in this study used the purposive sampling and data collection techniques using the intensity scale of playing online and the emotional intelligence scale. The data analysis method used is product moment analysis. Hypothesis testing was carried out using SPSS 21 for windows with a value of r = -0.397 and p = 0.000 (p <0.05) meaning that there was a relationship between the intensity of playing online with emotional intelligence in adolescents.
