Abstract
Mathematical concepts are used to explore the existence of mathematics in Malay culture, especially in Riau Malay specialties, seeing the current conditions in the study of Riau Malay specialties are still very rare, and there is still a lack of public knowledge about ethnomathematics. This study aims to explore the geometrical values/concepts found in Riau Malay food. This research is a qualitative research with an ethnographic approach. The instruments used are human instruments. The researcher communicates directly with the object of research and actively participates in data collection, either by means of literature study, interviews and documentation, surveys and observations. Data analysis techniques in this study were carried out by means of data reduction and data analysis. The results of this study in the form of values / mathematical concepts contained in typical Riau Malay food are: points, lines, angles, triangles, semi-circles, circles, rectangles, rectangles, regular octagons, rhombuses, tubes, blocks, pyramids and quadrilaterals. Some of the values/mathematical concepts found in typical Riau Malay food can be used to introduce and understand mathematical concepts and relate ethnomathematics to learning that contains geometric concepts.
