Abstract

Road traffic and transportation as part of the national transportation system must develop its potential and role to realize security, safety, order, and smooth traffic and road transportation in the context of supporting economic development and regional development. Road traffic and transportation have a strategic role in supporting development and national integration as part of efforts to promote public welfare as mandated by the 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia. The purpose of this study is to describe the implementation of duties and functions of the Department of Transportation in supervising concrete vehicles weight. The method used in this researchs is a qualitative method with descriptive analysis techniques, qualitative research is a process that is more intended to understand human problems in a social context by creating and presenting a comprehensive and complex picture, reporting detailed views from informant sources, and carried out naturally without any intervention from the author, with interviews and observations as a data collection tool, with the results of the study the conclusion was that in carrying out the duties and functions of the Pekanbaru City Transportation Service in supervising heavy tonnage vehicles, it was considered not good because the supervision carried out was less than optimal. so that there are still heavy tonnage vehicles crossing the public lanes of Pekanbaru City and violating the rules that have been set
