Abstract
This research is motivated by the lack of ability to understand exposition text of class X SMAN 1 Sungai Pagar sub-district Kampar Kiri Hilir Kampar Regency. The problems studied in this study are 1) How is the ability of class X students of SMAN 1 Sungai Pagar Kampar Kiri? Downstream in understanding the structure of the exposition text, 2) How is the ability? X grade students of SMAN 1 Sungai Pagar Kampar Kiri Hilir in understanding the Rules exposition text. The theory used in this study is the Ak Prize theory, et al (1997) and Keraf (in Sabarti Akharga, et al. 1997). Which method used in this research is descriptive method. Collection technique data through observation through written tests by answering multiple choice questions as many as 20 questions. Students choose the right answer, the correct one is given a weight of 1, the wrong one is given a weight of 0. The results of the author's research can be drawn the conclusion that the ability to understand the overall exposition text on Class X IPS 3 students of SMAN 1 Sungai Pagar Kampar Kiri Hilir obtained a score of an average of 65.1 with sufficient category. This value is in the range of values 56-65 with medium category. Ability to understand expository text based on the structure of the students of Class X IPS 3 SMAN 1 Sungai Pagar Kampar Kiri Hilir obtained an average value of 64.6 in the medium category. This value is at the score range is 56-65 with the medium category. Ability to understand text exposition based on rules for students of Class X IPS 3 SMAN 1 Sungai Pagar Kampar Kiri Hilir obtained an average score of 65.7 with a sufficient category. This value are in the range of scores of 56-65% in the medium category.
