Abstract
Bangko Subdistrict is one of the subdistricts in Rokan Hilir Regency which has quite good potential in cultivation. Development of catfish farming is due to its location in the lowlands and surrounded by rivers. One of the efforts to develop fishery business is to improve the economy of catfish farmers, especially in increasing family income. This development is of course aimed at improving the welfare and standard of living of catfish farmers. This study aims to analyze: 1) farmer characteristics and profiles of catfish farming business, 2) cultivation techniques, use of production facilities and labor for catfish farming, 3) production costs, income, efficiency and break even points of catfish farming. This research was conducted in Bangko District, Rokan Hilir Regency from August 2021 to January 2022. The method used is a survey method. The selection of respondents was done at simple random as many as 48 farm owners. The data analysis used is descriptive qualitative and quantitative analysis. The results showed: 1) The characteristics of catfish farming farmers in Bangko District were the average age of the farmers 42 years, the average length of education 9 years, the average farming experience 5 years, the average number of family members 3 people. While the farming profile obtained an average volume of 135 M3 farming pond, the average initial capital of Rp 3,760,417. the average amount of production per pond is 480 kg. 2) Cultivation techniques and production facilities include pond preparation, stocking seeds into ponds, feeding, handling pests and diseases, harvesting and postharvesting. The workers used in the catfish rearing business are workers in the family as many as 24.55 HKP. 3) Production costs are Rp. 5,475,074/production period, gross income earned by catfish farmers in Bangko District, Rokan Hilir Regency is Rp 8,160,000/production period, net income earned is Rp 2,684,926/production period, obtained RCR (Revenue Cost Ratio) of 1.49 means that the farm is profitable and feasible to be developed. BEP in farming was found BEP value in catfish rearing business in Bangko District per production period was reached at a production volume of 35 Kg at a price of Rp 11,585/kg and with an acceptance value of Rp 555,198. Under these conditions, the gross income of catfish farmers can cover all the costs incurred to produce the production volume.
