Abstract

The use of motorized vehicles at this time, both two-wheeled and four-wheeled vehicles, or the rest has become a daily secondary need to support the convenience and quality of life for most individuals and groups. The daily use of both private and industrial vehicles must be supported by good performance, especially the lower middle class Indonesians use motorcycles as a primary need, long-term use of motorcycles can cause wear factors that will affect the performance of the gasoline engine. In this study, I used the camshaft angle shift method with variations in angles of 2º,3º and 4º (advance) and 2º,3º and 4º (restart). As well as testing performance using a single cylinder combustion engine. From the results of this study, it can be seen that the camshaft angle has an influence on the performance of the gasoline engine where the greater the camshaft angle is, the more the performance of the gasoline engine will increase. The best performance of the gasoline motor is obtained at 4º camshaft angle where the highest engine torque is 13.40 Nm, and the highest power value is 12.62 kW, and the lowest fuel consumption value is 2.124 kg/hour, and obtained the lowest specific fuel consumption value with a value of 0.175 kg/kW.hour, and the highest thermal efficiency value of 46.2%.
