Abstract

Agricultural mechanization is expected to increase productivity and reduce loss of production. The using of combine harvester for harvesting rice Kampar Regency aims to minimize time and labor cost efficiency. However, financial feasibility of using a combined harvester needs to be analyzed in order to provide benefits to its managers. This research aims to analyze UPJA and combine harvester profiles, operator’s characteristics, costs, revenues, efficiency and break-even point of a combine harvester hire services, and analyze the financial feasibility of combine harvester operation in Kampar District. This research was conducted by survey method. The analytical method used to analyze UPJA and combine harvester profiles, operator’s characteristics is descriptive approach. Meanwhile costs, revenues, profit, efficiency, and break-even point are analyzed by descriptive quantitative approach, and the financial feasibility is evaluated by using NPV, Net B/C, IRR and payback period. The results showed that the combine harvester type CCH 7130 Hornet was better in time efficiency, while the Futata HH 81 KEG type was more effective in number of harvested rice. Characteristics of the operators show that average age of 44 years old, education level of 10.5 years, experience of 3 years, the number of household size 4 people. The total total cost is Rp. 12,655,530/growing season and most (51.02%) was allocated for machine depreciation. The gross income earned is Rp. 10,816,220/ growing season, while net income is Rp. -1,839,310/growing season. Efficiency (RCR) that is equal to 0.85, which means combine harvester mechine hire service is inefficient; and the business is at the break-even point when the area harvested is 21.71 ha/ growing season. The work of combining harvester per season covering an area of 15.75 ha. Based on the investment eligibility criteria, it shows that the NPV is Rp. -56,306,074 (<0), IRR of -87% (<5%), Net B / C of 0.61 (<1) and a payback period of 10.89 years (> 7 years). The use of combine harvester in Kampar District is not feasible. The sensitifity analysis (switching value) results show that the normal profit (NPV = 0) will be achieved if the output price is increased by 42.155% or the labor wage is reduced by 87.075%.
