Abstract

GOR (Gas Oil Ratio) is the ratio of gas to oil produced, the percentage of fluid that is also produced between gas and oil. The condition of a well that has a high GOR will be easier for a gas lock to occur. A gas lock can occur if a well has a high fluid content of gas during production so that the percentage of the fluid will meet the flowline of the pump and will affect the productivity of the ESP itself. This gas lock problem if left unchecked will disrupt the performance and components of the ESP, such as the pump motor, impeller to the flowline of the well. Of the several key cases of gas that occurred in the well, the researchers handled it by using or installing equipment as mitigation. The tool commonly used is the addition of a Gas Separator. The results of the research that have been carried out show that with the addition of a gas separator and the selection of the right pump can optimize the flow rate of the ESP pump, it will help in overcoming the gas locking which is indicated by the production rate of the well. In this final project, the researcher conducts research on the occurrence of gas locks and analyzes the selection of pumps & equipment in handling gas locks. From the results of data processing, the ESP MVP G12 pump was replaced in well X and the ESP MVP G4 pump in well Y and the addition of gas separators in both wells. Then the flow rate of well X increased to 16256.28 bpd and the flow rate of well Y increased to 987.18 bpd. Then with the installation of a gas separator, the GOR value in both wells decreased to 20.5.
