Abstract
Important parameters that can affect the polymer flooding process are density, viscosity and FTIR test. One of the plants that can be used in the manufacture of cellulose-based biopolymers is pandan thorn leaf which is taken as leaf fiber. In this study, xanthan gum was tested as a commercial polymer to be compared with pandan thorn leaf fiber polymer. Furthermore, the compatibility test of pandan thorn leaf fiber will be carried out with the following scenario, polymer concentrations of 1000, 2000 and 3000 ppm with salinity solutions of 5000, 30000, and 60000 ppm using temperatures of 70 and 80 . After testing the polymer samples of pandan thorn leaf fiber and xanthan gum obtained 6 compatible solutions for pandan thorn leaf fiber and 8 compatible solutions for xanthan gum. Then proceed with density testing using a 50 ml pycnometer where the results show that the addition of concentration and salinity makes the density of the polymer solution increase, but with increasing temperature, the density decreases. Furthermore, viscosity testing is carried out using a Fann Vg Meter, where the parameters that affect viscosity are concentration, salinity and temperature and shear rate. From these tests, it was found that the addition of polymer concentration could increase the viscosity, but when the salinity, temperature and shear rate increased, the viscosity decreased. The results of the FTIR test showed that the formation of C=O, C-O and C-H groups which indicated the presence of a spectrum of cellulose constituents in the pandan thorn leaf fiber sample.
