Abstract

The quality of the cement behind casing has a huge influence on the performance of an oil well, even on a wider scale. To the surrounding environment of the oil field operation area where the well is located. This study was aimed at evaluating two wells, X1 and Y1 in area M of the RV field, which experienced problems with the quality of the cement behind the casing , causing production and environmental disturbances. The analysis carried out in the form of evaluating the condition of the cement behind the casing was carried out by qualitative and Quantitative analysis. Qualitative analysis was performed using a chart of variable density log (VDL) and cement bond log (CBL) data. While Quantitative analysis is an analysis of data based on the amplitude obtained, so the next step is to calculate the bond index by looking at the results of the cement bond log (CBL) using track readings and the attenuation rate. The results of the qualitative and Quantitative analysis on the X1 well showed amplitude in the 10 3/8” and 10 ” casings ranging from 5-20 mV at a depth of 34-456 ft. while the results of the evaluation of the cement bond log (CBL) and variable density log (VDL) data on the Y1 well showed amplitude in the casing , ranging from 50-80 analysis historical of the Y1 well, it was found that the main cause of the failure of the cement behind the casing was the occurrence of lost circulation . Therefore, the recommendations are given to improve the quality of the cement behind the casing by planning squeeze cementing with the bradenhead because cement slurry pumped into the well through tubing or drill pipe without using packer so that the cement bond in the productive zone is good and does not experience problems such as leakage due to the presence of partial cement so that casing is not protected from corrosive fluids or contact between layers due to not creating isolation zone from cement.
