Abstract

Over time, there will be a decrease in production and efforts are made to increase it by using artificial lifts. Electrical Submersible Pump (ESP) is very suitable for deep wells and large production capacities. To maintain ESP performance, well conditions and fluid characteristics are considered necessary as a consideration regarding the selection of a suitable ESP unit and additional equipment needed. So as to minimize the risk of failure that occurs and obtain a high runlife. These results can be monitored regularly and performance evaluation is carried out every time. ESP is very susceptible to Low Influx conditions and wells that have a high Gas Oil Ratio (GOR). By lowering the set below the perforation is one way to mitigate this. However, there is a domino effect obtained from this action, namely the fluid passing through the ESP motor has the potential not to reach the required standard value of 1 ft/s. By using Shroud, it is a solution to get the minimum speed that the fluid must flow for the ESP Motor cooling process. By conducting a study of the flow rate required for the ESP motor when operating for the cooling process. Many cases of ESP failure are caused by Motor failure. So by taking this into account, it is hoped that ESP performance can increase as proven by the long run life and the risk of failure on the ESP does not occur
