Abstract

This research was motivated by the lack of students’ active learning in class VIIA at Islamic Junior High School Khairul Ummah Batu Gajah Air Molek Indragiri Hulu Regency. Research problem questioned about the implementation of discussion method could improve students’ active learning in akidah akhlak lesson class VIIA at Islamic Junior High School Khairul Ummah Batu Gajah Air Molek Indragiri Hulu Regency. The purpose in this research clarified to improve students’ active learning by implemented discussion method in akidah akhlak lesson class VIIA Islamic Junior High School Khairul Ummah Batu Gajah Air Molek Indragiri Hulu Regency. The subject in this research was students’ class VIIA at Islamic Junior High School Khairul Ummah Batu Gajah Air Molek Indragiri Hulu Regency, meanwhile the object was discussion method. Data collection technique used observation, questionnaire, and documentation. This research used class action research with 3 (three) action circles, where every circle consisted of 4 (four) actions: planning, implementing, observation and indicator reflection. Based on data analysis could be known that students’ active learning before using discussion method classified into low category with percentage 39%. After using discussion method in circle 1, students active learning improved into middle category with percentage 55%. Then, it was continued with circle II where students’ active learning improved into high category in 65%. Next, in circle III, students’ active learning improved into very high category in 80%. So, it could be concluded that the implementation of discussion method could improve students’ active learning in akidah akhlak lesson class VIIA at Islamic Junior High School Khairul Ummah Batu Gajah Air Molek Indragiri Hulu Regency.
