Abstract

Phenomenology of Korean Wave on Riau Islamic University Students Nurwahidah 169110232 This research is to find out in depth the phenomenon of the students of the Islamic University of Riau. This study focuses on the experiences of students in enjoying the Korean Wave at the Islamic University of Riau. The research method used in this study is a qualitative phenomenological method. The subjects in this study amounted to 5 (five) students obtained through snowball sampling technique. Data collection techniques were carried out through interviews, observation, and documentation. The technique of checking the validity of the data is using source triangulation. The theory used in this research is the phenomenological theory which is divided into 2 (two) namely In Order Motive and Because Motive. In Order Motive is the purpose of the informant to like the Korean wave, namely to learn Korean language, make the Korean wave as entertainment and the last is to be able to grow a positive aura (Positive vibes). Meanwhile, Because Motive, which is the reason or cause of informants liking the Korean wave, is the influence of friends and relatives who often see the Korean wave and also from television which broadcasts a lot related to the Korean wave.
