Abstract

This study aims to determine the role of the Promotion Section of the Pekanbaru City Culture and Tourism Office in Promoting Pekanbaru City Underground Shopping Tourism Objects. The problems raised in this study are about the role of the Pekanbaru City Tourism and Culture Office in increasing the down market which is one of the places of tourism that has started to lack demand by the community, especially the people of Pekanbaru City. Pd assessment indicators in the implementation of promotions that are used include Informing, Persuading the Target, Remind. The type of research located at the Pekanbaru City Tourism and Culture Office is a descriptive survey, which prioritizes the interview list as a data collection tool and the data collected by this tool is then used as the main raw material for analyzing the empirical condition of the objectivity of the existence of the research objectives at the location under study. The key informants in this study were the Promotion Section of the Pekanbaru City Culture and Tourism Office, Management of PT. Dalena Pertama Indah as Manager of the Pasar Bawah Pasar Wisata Kota Pekanbaru, and her research informants are visitors to Pasar Bawah Tourism Market. The key informant withdrawal technique uses purposive sampling technique, while for informants the author uses the Snowball sampling technique. Types and data collection techniques used consisted of primary data collected using interview list techniques and secondary data collected using observation and documentation techniques. Meanwhile, the data analysis technique used is Cresswell's theory. Based on this analysis technique, the authors assess and conclude that the role of the Pekanbaru City Culture and Tourism Office in Promoting Pekanbaru City Underground Shopping Tourism Objects has not been implemented properly.
