Abstract
THE ROLE OF VILLAGE GOVERNMENTS IN MANAGING VILLAGE MARKETS IN SIKEBAU JAYA VILLAGE, ROKAN IV KOTO DISTRICT, ROKAN HULU REGENCY The purpose of this study was to determine the Role of Village Government in Village Market Management in Sikebau Jaya Village, Rokan IV Koto District, Rokan Hulu Regency and to determine the inhibiting factors. This type of research is qualitative with data obtained from key informants and designated informants. The types and sources of data used are derived from primary data and secondary data. Then the research data collection was carried out through observation, interviews, and documentation. The collected data were classified according to the type and form and then presented descriptively. The results of this study indicate that the Village Government in Village Market Management in Sikebau Jaya Village, Rokan IV Koto District, Rokan Hulu Regency has played a role in improving the economy and welfare of the village. In this study, it was found that there are obstacles that support the market infrastructure (parking lots, bathrooms, garbage dumps, and lighting) which do not yet exist so that market management is not optimal and traders and visitors are less comfortable. Then in terms of expensive rental prices for stalls, it is not comparable to market operating hours, which only operate from 14.00 to 17.00 WIB every Sunday. From the manager's point of view, it can be seen that the field officers often vary, making it difficult for traders to coordinate. It has not been supported by the physical development of a market that is able to accommodate all traders, so that many traders do not get a place and sell on vacant lots.
