Abstract
The purpose of this study was to find out how dependent students are in using the fifth semester Google Translate application in the English Education Study Program, FKIP UIR. This descriptive research uses qualitative techniques which are considered as the right approach as a type of research. The population of this research is fijih semester students of English Education, Islamic University of Riau, while the sample was selected through a sampling technique consisting of 30 students. Data were collected from the questionnaire paper that was made. The researcher adapted the questionnaire from montag (2015). The results of this study are presented descriptively to show that students' dependence on google translate is in the biological category. The data shows that of the 3 indicators used in this study, namely, social, psychological and biological, the first ranking category has the highest percentage, namely from the biological category (70.83%). The second highest ranking is from the psychological category (64.99%) and the lowest percentage is from the social category (63.44%). The percentage result shows that 5th semester English students depend on the use of Google Translate biological categories (70.83%). which causes students to always need Google Translate because the development of their weak brain activity is related to the biological side
