Abstract

Business actors at Shopee e-commerce provide information that does not match the actual conditions of the goods being traded. This is evidenced by the fact that the goods that arrive in the hands of consumers are completely unsuitable goods. Such as different product quality. The seller also does not respond to complaints from consumers, and does not even provide compensation to consumers in the form of money back compensation or replacement of goods. The actions of these business actors are contrary to Law Number 8 of 1999 concerning Consumer Protection. In the thesis entitled "Legal Protection Against Consumers in Sales and Purchase Agreements in Shopee E-commerce (Case Study in Pekanbaru City)" discusses the following problems: 1) How is legal protection for consumers who suffer losses on goods that are not in accordance with online buying and selling agreements based on the Act Number 8 of 1999 concerning Consumer Protection 2) What are the obstacles in obtaining legal protection for consumers who suffer losses on goods that are not in accordance with the online sale and purchase agreement. The objectives of this study are: 1) To find out the form of legal protection for consumers who suffer losses on goods that are not in accordance with online buying and selling agreements based on Law Number 8 of 1999 concerning Consumer Protection, 2) To find out the obstacles in obtaining legal protection for consumers. who obtain losses on goods that do not comply with the online sale and purchase agreement. The method used to answer the above objectives is to use the empirical legal research method, which is a data collection technique, where the researcher makes direct observations of the research object to take a close look at the activities carried out. Methods Data collection was done by interview, questionnaire and observation. The results of the study indicate that the form of legal protection for consumers is not implemented in online buying and selling agreements. Based on the results of the study, the authors found the fact that consumers are not protected by their rights under this rule of law. Consumers still suffer losses caused by business actors. However, business actors do not fulfill their responsibilities for the losses caused by them to consumers. In the field, the author concludes that there are many obstacles found in applying legal protection to consumers. There are various factors that cause these obstacles, both constraints from business actors themselves, consumers and even from the Shopee ecommerce application. Constraints in obtaining legal protection for consumers, causing legal protection for consumers is not implemented or in fact the law regarding consumer protection cannot protect consumers because of these obstacles.
