The Role of Farmer Groups in Increasing Rice Farming Productivity in Marunggi Village, South Pariaman District, Pariaman City. Under the guidance of Mrs. Dr.Ir. Marliati, M.Sc. The function of farmer groups as a learning class, a vehicle for collaboration, and a farm production unit, play an important role in agricultural development. In addition to changes in farmer's behavior, the success of agricultural development is also known from the productivity of member farming. The purpose of this study was to analyze 1) Characteristics of farmer group members, farmer contacts, farmer group profiles in Marunggi Village. 2) The role of farmer groups in increasing the productivity of lowland rice in Marunggi Village, and 3) The relationship between the role of farmer groups in increasing the productivity of lowland rice farming. The research method is a survey method with a sample of 48 people. Sampling is a Multi Stage Sampling technique. Analysis of the data used is Descriptive Analysis, Likerts Scale, and Spearman Rank Correlation. The results showed that 1) The characteristics of the members of the paddy rice farmer group in Marunggi Village were the average productive age of 54.2 years, the members of the farmer group mostly being filled by women / women with 64.5%, the average education of farmer groups was 12 years (equivalent to high school), the average number of dependents of farmer contact families and group members is 4 people, the average experience of farming is 16.6 years, the average group experience is 10 years. Group profile: a) Pagum farmer group: Pagum farmer group was established around 1988-1989 with 35 members. The ability class of the Pagum Farmer Group is a beginner class. b) Advanced Farmer Group: A joint farmer group was established in 2006 with 23 members. The peasant group ability class is progressing together, namely the middle class. c) Kasal farmer group: The kasal farmer group was established in 2008 with 30 members consisting of 7 men and 23 women. The class ability of the kasal farmers group is the advanced class. 2) The level of the role of the rice paddy farmer groups in increasing productivity in Marunggi Village as a whole, namely, the role of farmer groups as a class included in the good category, the role of farmer groups as farm production units categorized as good, the role of farmer groups as a vehicle for good category cooperation, and increased productivity including both categories. 3) The relationship between learning class and productivity obtains the Spearman rank correlation value of 0.574 ** the closeness of a positive and moderate relationship, meaning that the increasing the role of farmer groups as farming production units, the increasing productivity of paddy farming. The relationship between farming production units and productivity gets a Spearman rank correlation value of 0.623 ** The closeness of a strong and significant positive relationship means that the more the group's role as a vehicle for cooperation increases the productivity. The relationship between cooperation and productivity gets a Spearman rank correlation value of 0.825 ** The closeness of a positive relationship is very strong and significant. It means that the more the group's role as a vehicle for cooperation will increase productivity. The relationship between the role of farmer groups with productivity obtains a Spearman rank correlation value of 0.615 ** with a strong and significant positive relationship closeness, meaning that the increasing the role of farmer groups as a whole will also increase the farm productivity of group members. This shows that the productivity of lowland rice farming can be improved by increasing the role of farmer groups as a learning class, the role of farmer groups as farm production units and the role of farmer groups as a vehicle for cooperation. Keywords: Role of Farmer Groups, Spearman Rank Correlation, Farming Productivity
