Abstract

ABSTRACT Narcotics have become an increasingly difficult problem for many countries. this is caused by the effects of the drugs themselves which have spread in various countries. Narcotics, which are generally only prevalent in large cities, are now easily found in small towns and even in remote areas such as sub-districts and villages. Usually, drug-related offenses are committed by men. But in reality, women also fall into the circle of drugrelated crime. The main problem at this research is First, what are the factors that cause drug abuse among women in the city of Pekanbaru. Second, what is the impact of drug abuse on women in the city of Pekanbaru. Third, how are the efforts to prevent women from being harmed by drugs in the city of Pekanbaru. This research is empirical legal research. This type of research is descriptive, which provides a concrete picture of what is sought. The researchers used primary data obtained from interviews with related parties and secondary data obtained from books, journals, etc. Qualitative data analysis, namely parsing data in the form of sentences that are orderly and logical. Deductive method of drawing conclusions.. Deductive method for drawing conclusions. Based on the results of the study, it is known that efforts to prevent women from being harmed by drugs are carried out with non-penal and penal prevention efforts. Nonpenal efforts are preventive crime prevention efforts, namely efforts to prevent possible crimes committed before a crime occurs. Penal efforts are efforts to prevent repressive crimes for lawbreakers or criminals. This effort is carried out after the crime has occurred by giving punishment to the perpetrators of drug abuse
