Abstract

STUDENTS' PERCEPTIONS ON THE IMPLEMENTATION OF SCIENCE LEARNING DURING THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC IN CLASS VII SMPN 2 PANGKALAN KERINCI, PELALAWAN REGENCY, ACADEMIC YEAR 2020/2021 EKA PURNAMA SAFITRI NPM.176510699 Thesis of Biology Education Study Program Faculty of Teacher Training and Education Islamic University of Riau Advisor: Dr. Evi Suryanti, S.Si., M.Sc. Email: ekapurnama3199@gmail.com ABSTRACT This study aims to describe students' perceptions of the implementation of science learning during the COVID-19 pandemic in grade VII SMPN 2 Pangkalan Kerinci for the 2020/2021 academic year. This research is a quantitative descriptive study with a survey method. Data was collected through questionnaires, interviews and observations. The sample used in this study was a saturated sample, namely all students who took part inlearning online, totaling 119 students. The questionnaire distributed consisted of 30 statement items with three indicators, namely: 1) preliminary activities 2) core activities and 3) closing activities. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that students' perceptions of the implementation of learning during the COVID-19 pandemic showed a good perception with a percentage of 83.21%. However, during the implementation of learning there were several statements from students' perceptions that did not support it. This is caused by several factors, such as internet quota constraints, difficulty in accessing the internet, lack of interaction between teachers and students, lack of knowledge about learning applications, and lack of student activity in learning. This shows that SMPN 2 Pangkalan Kerinci is not yet fully ready to carry outlearning online.
