Abstract

This study aims to determine the factors that cause learning difficulties for students in learning mathematics at SMK PGRI Pekanbaru. This type of research is quantitative descriptive. The research subjects were students at SMK PGRI Pekanbaru, as many as 108 students consisting of 54 men and 54 women. The collection technique in this study was conducted by using questionnaire and interview techniques. In the questionnaire technique, the student questionnaire was first tested for validity using the formula Product Person Moment was 0.83 and the reliability test was 0.91 with the degree of constraint being high. Data analysis techniques used descriptive data analysis techniques, both peritem data analysis, indicators, and analysis as a whole. Based on the results of the study it can be concluded that there are factors that cause learning difficulties of students in learning mathematics at the PGRI Vocational School in Pekanbaru, the results of the presentations are sufficient motivation, intelligence and health with presentations 59.56%, 57.32%, and 45.13% and What is strong is interest and talent with the results of their presentations, which are 67.47% and 64.11%. strong is the state of the community environment, props used by teachers, teacher assessment, economic conditions, the way parents educate, and the atmosphere of the house with the results of presentations 62.26%, 66.77%, 61.73%, 71.13%, 62.26%, 71.29% and sufficient is the way to teach teachers with the results of the presentation 53.35%. The results of interviews with students argued that the factors causing difficulties faced by students were mathematics material that was difficult to understand and understand, and students also said that with social media such as cellphones and television disturbing their concentration in learning.
