Abstract

Analysis of Farming and Sweet Corn Marketing in West Sidomulyo Village, Tampan District, Pekanbaru City. Under the guidance of Mr. Ir. Tibrani, M. Si. Sidomulyo Barat Urban Village is one of the sweet corn producing villages in the Tampan District of Pekanbaru City. This study aims to analyze the characteristics of farmers and traders of sweet corn in Sidomulyo Barat Village, the use of production factors, costs, production, income and efficiency of sweet corn farming, this study also aims to determine the institutions and marketing channels, marketing functions, costs, margins, profits and farmer's share of sweet corn marketing in Sidomulyo Barat Village. This study uses a survey method conducted from November 2019 to February 2020. Data analysis used was descriptive qualitative and quantitative analysis. Sampling was carried out by census of 18 sweet corn farmers, 2 traders and 9 retailers. The average age of sweet corn farmers at productive age is 43 years, 10 years of education, 6 years experience in farming and 3 family dependents. Collector traders are 45 years old, 8 years of education, 3 years of business experience and 2 family dependents, and for retailers are 43 years old, 11 years of education, 7 years of business experience, and 4 family dependents. Average production factor usage per hectare: 21 packs of seed or 4,200 grams, manure 4,424.24 kg, Urea fertilizer 319.40 kg, NPK fertilizer 245.54 kg, KCL fertilizer 92.12 kg, and TSP fertilizer 170 kg, pesticides 4.60 Liter Company, Gramoxon 4.48 Liter, Propaton 5.15 Liter, Vampyr 3.03 and Abens 1.79 liters. The use of labor as much as 32.04 HOK. The average sweet corn production per hectare is 14,115 kg / ha / MT with a total farming cost of Rp. 19,042,613 / Ha / MT. Receipt of Rp. 46,120,169 / Ha / MT and profit of Rp. 27,077,555 / MT. Sweet corn business is efficient and feasible to be developed. In the marketing subsystem, for marketing sweet corn consists of 2 marketing channels. Channel I: Farmer - collector - retailer - consumer. Channel II: Farmer - Retailer - Consumer. Not all marketing agencies carry out marketing functions. Channel I marketing costs Rp. 475.48 and channel II Rp. 241.44 / kg, channel marketing margin Rp.2.225,00 and channel II Rp. 1,500.00 / kg, marketing channel profit I Rp. 1,749,52 and channel II Rp. 1,258.56 / kg. Marketing channel II is more efficient than marketing channel II, Farmer’s share value in marketing pattern II is higher because the price received by farmers is higher.
