Abstract

This study aims to determine the relationship of self-concepts and ways of learning with science learning outcomes based on the academic abilities of students of class VIII at 34 State Junior High School Pekanbaru, Academic Year 2018/2019. The study was conducted from 12 August 2019 to 21 September 2019. This study was a correlational study and data collection using questionnaires, documentation and interviews. The sample in this study were 80 students with different levels of academic ability. Data analysis in this study uses Person Product Moment correlation analysis techniques. The results showed that in high academics, self-concept (X1), ways of learning (X2) with learning outcomes (Y) there was a moderate relationship (0.540). In moderate academics, self-concept (X1), ways of learning (X2) with learning outcomes (Y) there is a moderate relationship (0.479). At low academics, self-concept (X1), ways of learning (X2) with learning outcomes (Y) there is a strong relationship (0.639). For the significant test scores found that in high academic, self-concept (X1), learning methods (X2) with learning outcomes (Y) tcount (2.1) > ttable (2.0). In moderate academics, self-concept (X1), ways of learning (X2) with learning outcomes (Y) tcount (3.3) > ttable (2.0). At low academic, self-concept (X1), learning methods (X2) with learning outcomes (Y) tcount (3,4) > ttable (2,0). The results showed that there was a significant relationship between self-concept and ways of learning with science learning outcomes based on the academic abilities of students of class VIII at Pekanbaru 34th Junior High School in 2018/2019 Academic Year.
