Abstract

In general, composite board is one type of product made from wood fiber fibers, an innovation that can be developed, namely by utilizing palm fiber sticks, which is one of the waste from palm oil, and in this study using epoxy resin as the adhesive. The purpose of this study was to obtain the optimum mechanical properties from the variation of the mixture of palm fiber sticks and epoxy resin with the ratio of the composition of the matrix, and to obtain the physical properties of the water absorption of the composite board. And to get the properties of the composite board from the palm fiber stick. The stages of this research started from making a composite board mold from glass, material preparation, making fibers from palm oil sticks, the composition of the material consisting of 30% stick fiber: 70% resin, 50% stick fiber: 50% resin, 70% stick fiber. : resin 30%. And finally, the specimen testing is carried out which consists of bending test, water content test. Based on the results of research that has been carried out on the use of oil palm fiber sticks with epoxy resin as a composite board material, it shows that all percentages in the bending test have the highest values obtained on materials with a matrix composition and fiber 70%: 30%, namely 3.81 N / mm² has not fulfilled SNI. And the bending elasticity modulus with the highest value on the composition of the matrix and fiber 70%: 30%, namely 233.28 N / mm² does not meet the SNI. Furthermore, the value in the water content test with the highest value on the composition of the matrix and fiber 30%: 70%, namely 6.29%, has fulfilled the SNI.
