Abstract

Limapuluh District is one of 5 sub-districts that have a high density of settlements in Pekanbaru City. This high population number allows the demand for space needs to be higher. The high demand for space can threaten the availability of existing public green open spaces and result in a decrease in environmental quality. So it is necessary to develop new green open space in anticipation of these developments. However, budget constraints forced the development to be carried out in stages. The purpose of this study was to determine the priority areas for providing green open space in Limapuluh District. The research method used is qualitative and quantitative methods. Qualitative methods are used to describe the quality of the existing public green open space. Meanwhile, quantitative methods are used to identify land use, the distribution of public green open space with descriptive analysis techniques. Quantitative methods are also used to calculate the need for public green open space based on the number of residents and the percentage level of fulfillment of public green open space in Limapuluh District which will later be used to determine priority areas for the development of public green open spaces. Based on the results of the analysis, it is known that the land use in Limapuluh District is divided into 2 areas, namely the built-up area and the undeveloped land area. The built-up area is 380 ha and the unbuilt land area is 192.5 ha. Meanwhile, for the distribution of public green open space, the sub-districts that have the most public green open space are in Tanjung Rhu Village and the fewest are in Pesisir and Sekip Villages. While the need for public green open space is based on the total population in Limpuluh District, which is 117,895 m2, the largest need for public green open space is the type of public green open space for environmental parks with public green open space needs of 61,729 m2. The determination of the priority area for public green open space in Limapuluh District is located in the Coastal Village with a level of meeting the needs of public green open space of 1% and the highest level of meeting the needs of public green open space is in the Tanjung Rhu Village of 5.2%.
