Abstract
Abstract The problem in road building is not only about the overload, but it is also problem in carrying capacity of basic soil issues. The efforts that was made to get a good pavement in National Lintas Timur road, at the intersection of Bukit Timah 236 KM in Rokan Hilir Regency had been done by following the standard planning procedure and the quality of materials that are available in Indonesia. In reality, earlier asphalt damage is still happening as the consequence of the heavy load on LHR vehicle and the axis load exceeding the limit of MST from a vehicle. To overcome this asphalt earlier damage issue, it is need to conduct a research on the carrying capacity of basic soil and it’s handling for a better quality and pavement capability. Road pavement damage at Nasional Lintas Timur road simpang Bukit Timah 236 KM intersection in Rokan Hilir regency is happening, where the lane of the road has decreased direction lengthwide. At the point of damage, based on manual measurement, the width of the road body is 7m, while the road side is 1,5m. The decline ranging between 20 up to 50 cm. Investigation data on sondir soil using Dutch Cone Penetrometer produces a graph showing the hard ground layer lies deep enough. Based on the calculation shows the low soil carrying capacity q = 0,45 Kg/cm 2 . The pile is selected as a soil reinforcement solution, where the pile can be fixed to the required depth. The pile supports the reinforced concrete plate as a pavement layer. Vehicle loads and reinforced concrete plate loads are assumed to be loads located above two pledestals. From pile analysis, in one segment of rigid pavement P = 5,5m and L = 3,5m, obtained by centralized load of vehicle wheels ( P 1 and P 2 = 13,67 Tons). While the load is evenly due to the reinforced concrete plate q = 2,52 T/m. The pile carrying capacity of a pile is 13,93 Tons. The load calculation results in carrying capacity 34,27 Ton. It takes three piles on each support rigid pavement segment. So that the optimal pavement is produced that can withstand traffic load according to the age of plan.
