Abstract

Ome Tv is one of the most popular social media applications, Ome Tv was founded by Leif K-Brooks from Brattleboro, Vermont and launched on 25 March 2009 and the release of this Ome Tv application in Indonesia was on 31 July 2015. Ome Tv is capable of attracts the attention of users of all ages. Ome Tv offers several features such as video calls, chat, and a choice of countries. The tendency to get friends or a mate is now mostly filled with teenagers. This study aims to determine the trend of Ome Tv among teenagers. This research use desciptive qualitative approach. Data collection techniques from observation, interviews, and documentation. The data from this study were obtained from various data sources in order to answer the researcher's problems, namely primary and secondary data. This research uses Alfred Schuz's phenomenological theory as the basis in making this thesis. There were 5 informants in this study. The results of this study explain the trend of Ome Tv among adolescents as a means of communication to make foreign friends using Alfred Schuz's phenomenology which classifies motives into two parts because motives refer to past experiences, these are unknown in social groups, looking for friends play games together, open horizons with outsiders. In order motives which refer to the future, it is in the form of finding a mate, places of entertainment, selfexpression. Factors that encourage teenagers to use Ome Tv as a gathering place, make new friends, get information.
