Abstract

In general, the development of a waste of urban space, especially in the waterfront area is known as the waterfront. The existence of public space in the waterfront area is very important as a supporting element for users to carry out various recreational activities along the waterfront. However, land use often ignores the land use that has been determined, with it undergoing transformation from time to time, so that the land becomes dysfunctional. One of them is public open space on the Siak I bridge and on the Siak III bridge, Kampung Bandar Village, Pekanbaru City. The method in this research is descriptive qualitative analysis to determine the characteristics of the public open space of the Siak 1 and Siak III bridges and the descriptive qualitative analysis method is to identify the processes and drivers of the transformation of the function of public open spaces and public facilities around the Waterfront area of Pekanbaru City. Based on the results of the study, it is shown that the characteristics of public open space at Siak Bridge I and III with the main function: as a medium for socio-cultural activities of the local community, as a medium for city communication. residents, and recreation. In addition, there are also complementary functions: ecology, economy and architecture. Based on the results of the analysis of land transformation that occurred in the public space of the Siak Bridge 1, 4 times and the public space of the Siak III Bridge, there were 2 changes with the most influential drivers, namely: Institutional Management, the role of stakeholders and local actors.
