Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine and analyze Competence and its influence on the Performance of Educators in the Learning process at SMPN 35 Pekanbaru. The performance of educators is the ability of a teacher in carrying out learning tasks in schools and is responsible for students under his guidance by increasing student learning achievement. The performance of educators can be influenced by their competence, because competence is an attribute of the quality of human resources that significantly influences individual performance. The research method used is descriptive method with qualitative and quantitative approaches. Data collection techniques consisted of questionnaire techniques, interviews, observation and documentation. Data analysis was carried out qualitatively in the form of descriptions and explanations, and quantitatively using simple linear regression analysis and hypothesis testing. The conclusions of the results of this study are: a) the competence of teaching staff at Pekanbaru 35 Pekanbaru as a whole is a good category; b) The performance of the teaching staff at Pekanbaru 35 Public Middle School as a whole is very good category; and c) Competence of Educators has a positive and significant effect on the Performance of Educators in SMPN 35 Pekanbaru City.The researcher's suggestions regarding the results of this study are (1) The educators should always strive to maintain and develop their professionalism and performance and should follow the development and progress of science and technology in learning and education to achieve the quality of education and learning that can be relied upon; (2) To the Regional Government/ Department of Education, should always strive to develop the competence of teaching staff through supervision and supervision that is more intense to optimize the performance of teaching staff in accordance with the demands of advancing science and technology.
